When you mark a task completed, move it to the bottom.
When you check a task as completed, it should move to the bottom of that group of tasks. This way it moves out of the way of all the tasks that you are currently wanting to finish.
Example: You are at the grocery. You've made a list of items you want. Under the current system, you have to scroll up and own to see what items you still need to get. With this system, all the items that are still needed will move to the top. And if you need to uncheck one of the items for some reason, it moves back up to its original place in the list.
Zenbe lists does this, and it is very effective and nice. But Zenbe lacks a widget, so you guys are still my lister for iphone usage.
Let’s see how it goes with votes. I find todo jumping confusing.

yes let's see how many votes this gets. I can think of 2-3 iphone apps that do this (completed tasks zipped to other parts of screen) and I also find it disconcerting.
