we may introduce this but are keen to keep interface clean. you can currently delete tasks by marking them as done, then deleting them in history.

I disagree. I think if you can delete categories, you ought to be able to delete tasks. A small X is not going to clutter the layout.

I don't feel that this button is essential. Keep it clean.
